UAC prevents the internet from witting data into your hard disk or your registry unauthorized. This is called Internet explorer's protected mode. As the name suggest, you have to use Internet explorer to have this security feature. Also in win 7, ActiveX controls and IE add-ons cannot meddle with your computer without your permission. So by using 7, u reduce the chance of 3rd party software tinkering with your computer.
